You don't have to be in the
kitchen at the crack of dawn to prepare a terrific breakfast.
Serve it with coffee, juice, and fresh fruit and you've got a
well-rounded way to start the day. We serve this to our overnight
guests in the morning when we have a large crowd.
ingredients:
4 Le Petit Francais frozen baguettes
6 whole eggs
1 cup Milk
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar, divided use
1 cup finely chopped Almonds
2 tablespoons butter
Topping: Maple syrup, jam, or honey
To Prepare
Preheat oven to 400°. Place frozen baguettes directly onto oven racks.
Bake 10 minutes. Cool. Hold knife a an angle and cut baguettes into
1" slices on the diagonal (approx. 5 oval slices).
Whisk eggs, milk, ground cinnamon and 2 tablespoons sugar in a large
bowl. Add baguettes slices & let soak 5 minutes. Repeat for second
side. Make sure both sides are covered.
Mix remaining sugar and chopped almonds together. Remove bread from egg
mixture and roll into nut mixture to coat.
Heat butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Add
baguette slices and sauté 3 minutes per side or until each side is
golden. Server immediately or place in a 200° oven for 30 minutes to keep
warm.
